Poi is a performance art in which a ball, suspended from a length of flexible material (usually string, cord, or chain), is held in each hand and swung around the body in circular and complex patterns. Combining poi patterns with body movement yields a beautiful art form that both mesmerizes and entertains. This class is structured to accommodate all levels of experience – so beginners and advanced poisters are all welcome! Practice poi are available in class for use and are also available for purchase. Drop-ins welcome.
Bio:
Vince Walzberg is a passionate pyro at heart. His love for fire has fueled his turning to the art of poi and other performance fire arts. Class is led by Vince along with his good friend and partner in crime, Charly Byram. They are both proud members and founders of the local fire group, Pyrokinetics. Charly has been studying the art of poi for about 7 years and is nearing mastery while Vince is going on his 3rd year with poi and is branching out into many other fire arts.
